If you are thinking about a new pool, the design stage is where most of the big decisions are made: the size and shape, where it sits in the yard, the finishes, the features and how the whole family will use it. At Aqua Living Pools, every custom concrete pool is designed in-house, and our clients design their pool with us in 3D before construction starts.
Here is what the process looks like, step by step.
Step 1: Free on-site visit and quote
It starts at your property. Before we visit, we research your site so we arrive prepared. Then one of our builders comes out, walks the yard with you and talks through what is possible: where a pool could go, access for machinery, slope, retaining and anything else that affects the build. There is no obligation, and you will come away with a clear idea of what your site allows. You can request a free quote here.
Step 2: Your design session at our Burleigh Heads studio
Once you decide to go ahead with the design stage, you visit our design studio in Burleigh Heads. This is not a quick look at a brochure. You sit down with our designers (with a coffee) and work through your pool on screen in 3D, using our in-house 3D pool design software.
During the session we work through:
- Pool shape, size and position, and how it looks from inside the house
- Gradients and levels, including any retaining your site needs
- Tile placement, waterline tiles, coping and interior finishes
- Equipment, lighting, heating and water features
- Fencing and how the pool connects to your outdoor living areas
Because the design is done in-house, changes happen on the spot. There is no waiting days for a third-party designer to send revised plans. You can compare options side by side and see how each choice looks in your own backyard.
Step 3: See and touch the real finishes
Screens only go so far. Our studio has real samples of tiles, pebblecrete, coping and other finishes, so you can see colours and textures in person before you commit.
At the end of the design process you take home a box with your chosen tiles, so the whole family can look at them together. We also include a small pack of magnesium salts to try in the bath, which gives you a feel for the magnesium water we include in our pools.
Step 4: Your 3D drawings and contract
After the design process you receive 3D drawings of your pool. The design stage has a design fee, which is usually taken off your contract price when you go ahead with the build. From there, we prepare your contract, specifications, engineering and approvals, and your pool moves into construction. You can read more about each stage on our Our Process page.
